  2. Subject h.erytromycín estolát
    Subject h.Erythromycin Estolate
English X referencesErythromycin Propionate Dodecyl Sulfate
    Erythromycin Propionate Lauryl Sulfate
Scope note in EnglishA macrolide antibiotic, produced by Streptomyces erythreus. It is the lauryl sulfate salt of the propionic ester of erythromycin. This erythromycin salt acts primarily as a bacteriostatic agent. In sensitive organisms, it inhibits protein synthesis by binding to 50S ribosomal subunits. This binding process inhibits peptidyl transferase activity and interferes with translocation of amino acids during translation and assembly of proteins.

    English X referencesActinomycin
    Actinomycin D
    Meractinomycin
Scope note in EnglishA compound composed of a two CYCLIC PEPTIDES attached to a phenoxazine that is derived from STREPTOMYCES parvullus. It binds to DNA and inhibits RNA synthesis (transcription), with chain elongation more sensitive than initiation, termination, or release. As a result of impaired mRNA production, protein synthesis also declines after dactinomycin therapy. (From AMA Drug Evaluations Annual, 1993, p2015)
