It is expected that students will have a basic knowledge of general English at the A2/B1 level, which will enable them to continue their specialized English language studies and achieve the B2 level in the Midwifery branch of medical language. Annotation The textbook consists of ten core topics, including Education, Body Systems, Accidents & Emergencies, Hospital Admission, Pain & Other Symptoms, Family Planning, Prenatal Care, Labour & Delivery, Postnatal Care. Each unit begins with a brief introductory activity, followed by reading, writing, listening, and speaking exercises, a language focus section with a variety of exercises, video-based learning, and communication activities, as well as supplementary reading. The unit concludes with a short English-Slovak vocabulary list. The language focus section lists key and frequently used terms, including those derived directly from the unit texts. As this textbook is designed for intermediate students, it includes numerous exercises to reinforce and expand their grammar knowledge and medical vocabulary. At the end of the textbook, there is a key to all exercises and transcripts of dialogues, a concise English-Slovak dictionary comprising vocabulary from individual units, and a list of referenced materials.
